Summary
Please Don’t Save Me tells the story of a 12-year-old girl Seon-yu (Jo Seo-yeon), who lives in an unfamiliar place as if running away alone with her mother, after meeting an innocent boy, Jeong-guk (Choi Rowoon), at the school she transferred to. It is a work of art.
The film deals with the social issue of ‘suicide after killing a child’. However, director Jeong Yeon-kyung focused on the bright consolation coming to ‘Seon-yu’ rather than the miserable situation of ‘Seon-yu’, a girl who realized her sadness too early. In particular, the consolation that ‘Jeong-guk’ gives to ‘Seon-yu’ in the most pure way in the movie gives a deep resonance to the audience.
Director Jeong Yeon-kyung conveys a heavy message about the sad reality that may be happening somewhere even now, and at the same time draws a warm message of hope.
