Bloody Heart is a fictional historical drama about the story of Seonjong, who became the king due to his antagonism, and Lee Tae (Lee Joon), who succeeded him as the king of Joseon. It depicts the tense political confrontation between Lee Tae, who dreams of an absolute monarch, and Park Gye-won (Jang Hyuk), who wants to turn the king into a ‘flower of the royal family’, and Yoo-jeong (Kang Han-na), a free spirit.
It is a bloody politics that takes place between King Lee Tae (Lee Joon), who has to throw away the woman he loves in order to survive, and Yoo Jung (Kang Han-na), who has to become a fighter in order to survive, as they aim their swords at each other’s necks.
Lee Joon takes on the role of King Lee Tae, who dreams of becoming an absolute monarch for survival. Lee Tae-tae is a person who believes that any action is justified in order to achieve his goal, and must have it regardless of means and methods if necessary. However, he is expected to show off the polar opposite charm of going back and forth between the monarch and the man in love in the fierce battle of the royal court by confronting Yoo-jeong (Kang Han-na), a Jung-in he met when he was the purest.
Kang Han-na takes on the role of Yoo-jeong, who was too advanced to be bound by the strict Confucian doctrines in the drama and too free to be confined in a cubicle. Yoo-jeong is a character who is bold, resourceful, and possesses innate agility. Because of her meeting with Lee Tae, she goes through the upheaval of her tumultuous life and gets caught up in her royal power struggle.
Jang Hyuk is a living power, and he plays Park Gye-won, a person whom everyone obeys without revealing his power.
