Waiting For Rain: If it were a normal romance, it would have put weight on the intensity of the moment when the male and female protagonists faced each other, or the story after becoming a lover. However, this work does not unfold so simple. Focus on the power of direct letters, not text messages, phone calls, or the Internet. So-Hee (Chun Woo-Hee) & Young-Ho (Kang Ha-Neul) write down the scenery and sounds that can be easily conveyed with digital devices. ‘Waiting for Rain’ is a slow but thoughtful analog connection instead of a straight romance.

Young-Ho (Kang Ha-Neul), who has been living a boring Samsu life without a clear dream or goal, suddenly recalls a friend So-Yeon (Lee Seol ) who handed him a handkerchief during an elementary school athletic meet. Afterwards, he writes down a letter to So-yeon. However, So-yeon, who left memories for Young-ho, stays paralyzed in the hospital and cannot remember Young-ho. Eventually, her younger sister So-Hee (Chun Woo-Hee) responds on behalf of her older sister Soyeon.
Young-ho exchanges letters in Seoul and So-hee exchanges letters in Busan with the rule of “no questions, no asking to meet, and not coming”. The letter started by chance colors the two’s repetitive daily life with excitement and waiting. Eventually, Young-ho proposes a meeting to So-hee, and So-hee promises, ‘Let’s meet if it rains on December 31’.
